Description:

This course introduces issues relevant to the fundamentals of structures including static, strength, and stability of materials.

Objectives:

  • Describe code requirements
  • Explain structural design principles and terminology
  • Identify structural design examples including:
    • Load determination Tributary area
    • Availability of materials
    • Moment diagrams
    • Concrete footing design
    • Design of joists, rafters, and beams
    • Steel
    • Sheer diagrams
    • Building stability
    • Concrete walls
    • Connections

NOTE: THIS COURSE INCLUDES UP TO THREE (3) FIELD TRIPS:

  • Wood truss Shop 
  • Steel Fabrication Shop 
  • Concrete Testing facility
