EM 385-1-1 24 Hour Fall Protection

Did you know there is a new edition of the EM385-1-1? The new edition is effective March 15, 2024, and continues to be a requirement that contractors comply with the latest version of EM 385-1-1 (including interim changes) that is in effect on the date of the solicitation.

This course is designed for military facilities and site supervisors who must also serve as the competent person required by OSHA 1926.32(f), 1926.500, 1910, ANSI/ASSE Z359.2 and EM385-1-1 standards. Participants are assigned tasks which require evaluation for fall hazards. The tasks are described using real-life site photos. The training provides detailed coverage of the Fall Prevention & Protection Supervisor Training course materials and program topics. The course also supplies the participant with the knowledge and skills to perform the annual inspection and record keeping.

EM385 requires all Competent Persons who have employees who work at height, to attend a 24-Hour Fall Protection enforcement of training requirement. Federal enforcement of training requirement began September 1, 2016. Section 21 is significantly different from the current OSHA Subpart M and ANSI A10.32 requirements.

The training provides experience, methodology and in-depth look at all standards (ANSI & CSA) and regulations (OSHA) covering inspection of personal fall arrest systems.

Fall Protection for the Competent Person course ensures that a student will receive all of the proper training pursuant to OSHAs requirement of Competent Persons for this standard 29 CFR 1926.500 and topics and requirements are presented per EM 385-1-1.
