NH Considers State Prevailing Wage LawNH LEGISLATURE CONSIDERS ENACTING STATE PREVAILING WAGE LAW
NH Legislators are debating the passage of a state prevailing wage law ("mini Davis Bacon"). NH had a prevailing wage law but repealed it in 1985. HB1592 will require government determined prevailing wage and benefits to be paid and/or provided to all workers on state funded public works projects. ABC opposes passage of HB1592. Over the years it has become evident that prevailing wage laws are inflationary, incapable of equitable administration, unnecessary and self-defeating. They do not set prevailing rates rather they often set super minimum wages for a select group of wage earners in a particular industry.
