November Jalbert, Assistant Project Manager, WIC Week Profile

This week we celebrate Women in Construction Week (WIC) and the many women who work in and make important contributions to our industry every day! We are pleased to share the stories from many of the women who work and live in NH and VT. The project was created in partnership with I Build NH and NAWIC Granite State Chapter.

Why construction?
Every day is different and challenging. I'm surrounded by people who work in different trades, who are willing to share what they do best. I enjoy working with them and getting to use my mind and hands to get the job done.

What is your education/training background?
Graduate of a WRVTHS with a CAD Drafting Certificate
Associate's Degree in Business Management

How did you find yourself working in the construction industry?
I began working for Lewis Builders as their receptionist. From there, I became the property manager for their apartment communities for over 20 years. In 2019, I began dual tasking as the Property Manager and also as the Assistant Project Manager on site. To date, I have assisted in the construction of a 22-unit townhome community that we built and continue to manage, along with 34 Single Family Homes.

What do you enjoy most about your career?
I enjoy watching a project grow from start to finish. There is a sense of accomplishment when viewing the finished product, knowing that we've constructed a house that a family can now call home.

What advice do you have for women who want to work in the construction industry?
Do it. Don't allow stereotypes to limit you. I look forward to a time when careers in the construction industry are no longer considered to be non-traditional for women.
