DID YOU WORK ON A PROJECT IN NH OR VT BETWEEN 8/1/08 - 7/31/09? IF SO WE NEED YOU TO COMPLETE THE U.S. DEPT OF LABOR PREVAILING WAGE SURVEY. This statewide survey is being conducted by the US Dept of Labor to get a true picture of the wages that are being paid in the State of New Hampshire and Vermont. We need all ABC member contractors both GC's and Subs to complete this survey. Once complete the US Dept of Labor will have a true picture of wages being paid, not just the wages being paid by union contractors.
The Davis Bacon Act requires that contractors pay the local prevailing wage for each job category on Federal projects. The Labor Department determines that rate by soliciting and analyzing information about wages and compensation paid to construction workers on similar projects in the state and county in which the survey is being performed. In past surveys when not enough contractors participated in the survey wage and benefit rates for some trades have been set at union scale, by “default”. This leads to wage and benefit rates that are not really "prevailing" for the area.
In order to obtain the most accurate information, it is critical that open shop contractors participate in this survey.
