ONE MORE NOTICE: DID YOU WORK ON A PROJECT IN NH OR VT BETWEEN 8/1/08 & 7/31/09? IF SO WE NEED YOU TO COMPLETE THE US DEPT OF LABOR’S PREVAILING WAGE SURVEY – NOW! (02/05/2010)

This statewide survey is being conducted by the US Dept of Labor to get a true picture of the wages that are being paid in the State of New Hampshire and Vermont.  We need all ABC member contractors both GC's and Subs to complete this survey.  Once complete the US Dept of Labor will have a true, more accurate picture of wages being paid. If you do not participate, other “interested parties” will influence the wage rates and fringes you pay your workers.

The Federal Davis Bacon Act requires that contractors pay the local prevailing wage for each job category on Federal projects.  The Labor Department determines that rate by soliciting and analyzing information about wages and compensation paid to construction workers on similar projects in the state and county in which the survey is being performed.  If the response to the survey is low, a relatively few contractors who have submitted responses can influence the results. In fact, the regulations state that if 50% of the responses for a classification are the same, “to the penny” (only unions pay the same rate for all workers), that rate becomes the prevailing rate. This leads to wage and benefit rates that are not really "prevailing" for the area. YOUR participation is needed to assure an adequate response!
