The 2010 Excellence In Construction Awards entry form has been distributed to members and is posted on our website (www.abcnhvt.org). The deadline for submission is July 9th, 2010. To be entered projects must be located in the New England area and must have been completed between 1/1/08 and 1/1/10. Any member who would like assistance understanding the awards criteria, entry process or tips to submit an award winning entry, is encouraged to contact the chapter office. A meeting can be scheduled to come to your office and meet with the company representatives who will be putting the entry together.
In addition to all the entry categories for General Contractors and Subcontractors, this year two new opportunities have been added for awards in the areas of Sustainable Building and Community Service. Upon reviewing the entries, judges may determine awards for projects that demonstrate excellence in the areas of sustainable building and community service. All entrants are encouraged to include reference to their efforts with sustainable construction practices and community service participation related to the project entry in their project narrative.
Keys to developing a successful entry were identified at a workshop held on March 18:
1. Select your project now, identify team members and meet to review criteria. Select a “champion” to be responsible for coordinating the entry process.
2. Assign responsibility/accountability for completion of entry (Project description, safety, support materials, references, photos, etc).
3. Schedule progress meetings to review/discuss status entry, any issues. Stick to the scheduled progress meeting dates!
4. Establish a deadline for the first draft.
